Project Description
Project Yxney is a umbrella project that releases pieces of code that focus on typical developer needs, by creating MSBuild tasks, MSBuild projects, small components, reusable code snippets to make your deliveries faster and more consistent. Technologies and languages that will be used: C#, MSBuild project files and maybe some PowerShell. Everything is released under Apache 2.0 license, so you can use it in your commercial projects. The project is currently in its inception face, and mostly a place where the project creator will post code from his blog postings.
So, what does the name mean?
Yxney is the southernmost tip of a beautiful peninsula south of Oslo in Norway, near the Oslofjord outlet. It’s probably an old Norse name. The project creator used to live just north of the peninsula until he moved from his hometown at the age of 19. The name was chosen because it is unique, it was easy to register it and it can be pronounced “ixnay” by english speakers. The uniqueness also ensures that a file based search and replace will work smoothly without changing keywords in sql, msbuild or C# code.
There is also some wisdom in the choice of the name: If your trip takes you out on a peninsula, there are no shortcuts to get home faster.
