How To Use Rhapsody2Spotify

Before you get started

  1. You must have the Rhapsody client installed locally, and have syncronized your database by running it on the machine where you will run the conversion.
  2. Download the latest version of Rhapsody2Spotify at http://r2s.codeplex.com/releases/
  3. Make sure all prerequisites are installed.

Running Rhapsody2Spotify

  1. Unzip all the files in the release to a known folder
  2. Run Rhapsody2Spotify.exe
  3. Change any parameters
    1. The Source Database is the Rhapsody database on your local system. The default value should be correct.
    2. The Output Directoty is the folder in which the results will be placed (one HTML file).
    3. The Country Code is the country code (as defined by Spotify) in which your account is registered. The system will use this when finding tracks that are playable in your territory. It will also include tracks available Worldwide.
  4. Press Export
    1. The entire process may take an hour or more, depending on the size of your playlists and libraries. Spotify automatically limits you to 10 queries per second.
  5. Once completed, open the HTML file in any browser. For each playlist:
    1. You will see a summary of the conversion, and a list of unconverted tracks. A track may be unconverted because it was not found, not available in your territory, or some other system error.
    2. Create a new playlist in the Spotify desktop client.
    3. Click and drag the Playlist icon from the results page into the playlist in spotify. This will associate all converted tracks with that new playlist
