I don't really keep up with this page. Any updates are usually put on this site instead, as it gets more traffic:
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1281193-mcsave-v12-snapshot-and-restore-point-utility/Also, I wouldn't recommend downloading the source code for MCSave, because it's really gross. Like seriously, it is terrible. When I first wrote it I thought it was fantastic, but man, the things you learn in a year. I can't believe I showed the source off to companies as part of interviews . . . yuck.
Anyway, I have plans to rewrite it and, if I do, I will post it here.
MCSave 1.1MCSave is meant to be a lightweight program that runs separately from Minecraft and allows you to instantly load previous versions of your save files. It is the most intuitive, unobtrusive, and automatic "restore point" system available with no need for a large clunky window for you to interact with: MCSave runs entirely as an icon in your System Tray.
You simply start the program (or set it to start automatically) and forget about it. It will run and take care of backing up all of your saves without you even knowing it is there.
Features
- Instant "Undo" button in case you make any sort of mistake in-game.
- Never lose an inventory full of diamonds again!
- Runs in the background. Requires little to no interaction
- Automatically detects which World you are playing in and displays / saves those files
- Automatically closes and restarts Minecraft for you after loading restore point
- No need to set up anything or edit text files. MCSave works right out of the box
- Manually save or load restore points
How it worksMCSave finds your save file, whether it is in the default location or in another location that you specify, and creates backups of that save as you play. Then, if you don't like something that just happened in your game, simply right click the MCSave icon in your System Tray and select which backup you would like to load. MCSave automatically displays whichever World you are currently playing in and also gives you the option to select a different World if you would like to modify another world's saves as well.
Left clicking the Icon displays the settings panel which allows you to edit the location of your .minecraft folder, the location of the Minecraft.exe file, the maximum amount of save files you want to keep concurrently, the time between backups, and the option to have MCSave start when you turn on your computer. There is also a tab in this window that allows you to manual create and load backups of your save files whenever you want.
Little / No user interactionOne of the best aspects of MCSave is that it does virtually all of the work for you. Every aspect of keeping track of your old save files is handled automatically and loading those save files is as simple as one click. MCSave will run without any form of setup on your behalf.
